Celebrating President Yoweri Museveni's Legacy: A Grand Event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds

By John Kusolo

On July 5, 2024, the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala will be the epicenter of a grand celebration aimed at honoring the legacy and achievements of President Yoweri Museveni. This significant event, organized by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Mobilization Desk under the direction of Hon. Rosemary Sseninde, is aptly named "Good Work Is Worth Celebrating." It promises to attract a diverse array of attendees, including politicians, business leaders, investors, and NRM supporters.

Dr. Samuel Oledo Odongo and the Medical Camp

A highlight of this celebration is the free medical camp spearheaded by Dr. Samuel Oledo Odongo. Dr. Oledo, a prominent figure known for his dedication to public health, has been leading State House-sponsored doctors across Uganda, providing essential medical services to citizens. The medical camp at Kololo will not only offer much-needed healthcare services but will also serve as a testament to President Museveni’s contributions to the medical field and public health in Uganda.

Dr. Oledo, often referred to as Uganda's "Chief Kneeler" due to his reverent public displays of gratitude, expressed deep appreciation for President Museveni's impact on his own life and career. He credits the President for identifying and supporting talented individuals from humble backgrounds, providing them with scholarships, and thus enabling them to pursue professional careers. "We have all the reasons to be grateful," Dr. Oledo stated, highlighting that many, including himself, would not have achieved their professional status without such support.

Celebrating Peace and Stability

Dr. Oledo also praised President Museveni for his role in restoring peace and stability to Uganda. Recalling the tumultuous past marked by rebel activities and lawlessness, he commended the President for ending the threats posed by groups such as the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), Uganda People’s Army (UPA), Holy Spirit Movement, and the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). According to Dr. Oledo, Museveni’s leadership has created an environment where Ugandans can live without fear of war or persecution, fostering growth and development across the nation.

A Call to Unity and Participation

As part of the celebration, Dr. Oledo is calling upon the more than 5,000 beneficiaries of the State House scholarships to attend the event and present a special gift to President Museveni. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the President’s efforts in uplifting many Ugandans from disadvantaged backgrounds. Dr. Oledo’s call extends to all Ugandans, regardless of their political

affiliations, to join hands with the NRM in building a prosperous future for the country.

Political Ambitions and Future Plans

Dr. Oledo, who hails from Aloi Sub County in Alebtong district, also revealed his political ambitions. He is vying for the position of NRM First National Vice Chairman, currently held by Al Hajji Moses Kigongo, a veteran politician and close ally of President Museveni. Despite the challenges of competing against a seasoned politician, Dr. Oledo remains hopeful, representing the voice and aspirations of Uganda’s youth, who make up over 75% of the population.

The celebration on July 5, 2024, at Kololo Independence Grounds will commence at 9 AM. Hon. Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde emphasized that this event is for all Ugandans, funded by individuals who believe in celebrating President Museveni’s legacy. The ceremony aims to showcase the immense contributions of President Museveni, recognizing his efforts in various spheres such as democracy, politics, governance, and national development.

The "Good Work Is Worth Celebrating" (M7 MY BRAND) event is set to be a monumental occasion, honoring President Yoweri Museveni’s legacy and achievements. It serves as a reminder of the transformative impact of his leadership on Uganda, and a call to unity and continued progress for all Ugandans.
