By John Kusolo
The Empango Marathon, a significant annual event in the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, took place this year in Hoima City, marking another milestone in community engagement and support for local healthcare. Flagged off by the Prime Minister of the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, Owek Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi, the marathon saw enthusiastic participation from various sectors of society, including residents, security agencies, sponsors, and supporters.
The marathon's proceeds were dedicated to enhancing healthcare facilities in the region, specifically targeting Kibaale health centre IV in the Kibaale district. The funds raised were utilized to purchase much-needed maternal delivery beds and sterilizers, a crucial contribution to improving maternal health services in the area. This philanthropic endeavor highlights the kingdom's commitment to the well-being of its people and underscores the importance of community-driven initiatives in fostering development and support for critical health infrastructure.
In recognition of the collective effort, the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participants, security agencies, sponsors, partners, supporters, and friends who contributed to the success of the marathon.
