Green Power International Ltd: Elevating Street Lighting and Renewable Energy in Uganda

*By John Kusolo*

Green Power International Ltd, under the leadership of Benjamin Baluku, continues to make significant strides in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar energy solutions. The company specializes in a wide range of services including commercial and industrial solar systems, residential solar solutions, and street lighting. With a commitment to sustainability and innovation, Green Power International Ltd aims to address the energy needs of Uganda while promoting environmental conservation.

*Enhancing Street Lighting to Prevent Vandalism*

One of the critical challenges faced in urban areas is the vandalism of street lights, which compromises public safety and infrastructure efficiency. According to Baluku, most street lights in Kampala and other urban centers are not installed at adequate heights, making them vulnerable to vandalism. In response, Green Power International Ltd has adopted a strategic approach by installing street light poles at least 10 meters high. This height deters vandalism and ensures the longevity and effectiveness of the street lighting systems.

The company's efforts have been particularly visible in their projects with the Uganda National Roads Authority. They have successfully installed street lights in several key locations, including Zana on Entebbe Road, Masaka, and Kasese. Additionally, they have extended their services to landing sites across Uganda. Each of these installations is marked with Green Power International Ltd's stickers, signifying their quality and reliability.

*Power & Elec Uganda 2024: Showcasing Innovation and Collaboration*

Baluku shared these insights during the 2nd Edition of Power & Elec Uganda, held from July 11 to 13, 2024, at the UMA Show Grounds in Kampala. This prestigious event is the largest international exhibition in Uganda focusing on power, energy, electrical, electronics, renewable energy, and telecommunications. It serves as a crucial platform for stakeholders to connect, collaborate, and explore the immense potential of the East African market.

The exhibition attracted Power & Elec professionals, importers and exporters, wholesalers, and decision-makers from the East African region. Participants included exhibitors from over eight countries, all eager to tap into the burgeoning opportunities in East Africa. The event not only facilitated networking and knowledge sharing but also highlighted the innovative solutions and advancements in the energy sector.

*Green Power International Ltd: A Vision for a Sustainable Future*

Green Power International Ltd's participation in Power & Elec Uganda underscores their role as a leader in the renewable energy landscape. By addressing the challenges of street light vandalism with innovative solutions and actively participating in key industry events, the company demonstrates its dedication to fostering sustainable development in Uganda.

Their projects with the Uganda National Roads Authority are a testament to their expertise and commitment to quality. As the demand for reliable and sustainable energy solutions grows, Green Power International Ltd is well-positioned to contribute significantly to Uganda's energy landscape.
