The Secretary of the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, has called upon the people of Greater Luwero to continue rallying behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government to ensure sustainable development and peace in Uganda.

Speaking during a dua held today at the home of the late bush war veteran Juma Kasozi in Kikubampanga, Kikyusa, Nakaseke District, Hajji Kakande emphasized that the leadership of President Museveni is ordained by God and should be supported wholeheartedly.

“You people of Luwero should continue supporting President Museveni. He will come back in 2026 and continue leading Uganda. Continue supporting him until God decides that he should stop leading Uganda because leadership comes from God,” he stated.

Hajji Kakande underscored the significance of Greater Luwero in Uganda’s history, particularly its pivotal role in the bush war that brought the NRM government into power in 1986. He described the region as a cornerstone for Uganda’s peace and stability.

“We believe that Luwero is the reason why Uganda is now peaceful. Continue supporting the government, and it will also reciprocate by giving you what you deserve,” he assured the residents.

Preserving the Legacy of the Late Juma Kasozi

In his remarks, Hajji Kakande urged the family of the late Juma Kasozi to honor and preserve the legacy of the fallen bush war hero, who he described as a staunch supporter of President Museveni and the NRM government.

“I met Juma around 1986-87 in Luwero. He was my good friend. He loved the NRM and President Museveni, and as his surviving family, you should also continue supporting the President and the government,” he said.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the family of the late Kasozi, a gesture that drew appreciation from Mr. Ibrahim Bukenya Kanyike, a family representative.

The Senior Presidential Advisor and former Minister without Portfolio, Alhaji Abdul Nadduli, emphasized the need for capable individuals in Nakaseke to support those in need. He pointed out that fostering unity and helping the less fortunate would contribute significantly to the district’s development.

“When I was the Chairperson of Luwero District, I did all I could to secure jobs for our people. You should also do the same if you have the capability,” he advised.

Nakaseke Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Sarah Najjuma, commended the people of Nakaseke for attending the dua in large numbers and expressed her gratitude to the government for its developmental efforts in the district.

She urged parents to use the ongoing holiday period to instill discipline in their children, cautioning them against immoral acts.

“This holiday is a long one, so I request you parents to caution your children against immoral acts like theft,” she said.

Sheikh Kizza Abdul Kadri, the District Kadhi of Greater Luwero Muslim District under the Office of the Supreme Mufti, provided spiritual guidance during the dua. He encouraged believers to practice good behavior, help the needy, and seek forgiveness from God.

“Behave well and do good to others. God will continue blessing and providing for you,” he said. “We should return to God and do what pleases Him. Always ask for forgiveness from God, knowing that one day you will have to return to Him.”

On behalf of the family, Mr. Ibrahim Bukenya Kanyike expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hajji Kakande for his unwavering support and friendship over the years.

The event was attended by a cross-section of leaders and dignitaries, including businessman Hajji Sula Sserunjogi, religious leaders, and officials from Nakaseke District.

The dua for the late Juma Kasozi not only provided an opportunity to honor his legacy but also served as a platform to rally support for President Museveni and the NRM government. The event reinforced the enduring bond between the people of Greater Luwero and the leadership that emerged from the region’s historical sacrifices.
