Hon. Hon. Katongole Singh, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Kampala Region, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the highly anticipated Kawempe North by-election scheduled for Thursday, 13th March 2025.

The Kawempe North seat fell vacant following the unfortunate passing of the area MP, Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, in January 2025. The NRM has since fronted Ms. Faridah Nambi as its flag bearer, with the party intensifying its mobilization efforts to secure victory in the by-election.

NRM’s Commitment to Service Delivery

While acknowledging the stiff competition posed by the opposition, Hon. Katongole Singh remains optimistic about NRM’s chances, emphasizing that their candidate represents a direct link to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is also the party’s National Chairman. He urged the electorate to vote for Faridah Nambi, arguing that her election would guarantee improved service delivery, infrastructure development, and socio-economic transformation in Kawempe North.

“We know the opposition is in full gear, but NRM is well-prepared to win this election. We are appealing to the people of Kawempe North to vote for our candidate because she will have direct access to President Museveni, ensuring that service delivery is restored and assured,” Singh remarked.

He also called upon voters not to be intimidated by opposition groups, stressing that the election should be free, fair, and peaceful.

“We expect a peaceful election. The people of Kawempe North should not allow intimidation. They should come out in large numbers and vote for NRM because we have the right candidate who will bring tangible development,” Singh added.

Hon. Katongole Singh’s Parliamentary Aspirations for Rubaga North (2026-2031)

In addition to championing NRM’s efforts in the upcoming by-election, Hon. Katongole Singh has confirmed his intention to contest for the Rubaga North parliamentary seat in the 2026-2031 term.

He revealed that he is fully prepared for the race and is awaiting the Electoral Commission’s official roadmap before launching his campaign.

Singh, a seasoned politician and experienced mobilizer within Kampala politics, has promised to prioritize key development issues affecting the people of Rubaga North, including:

Infrastructure development – Advocating for improved roads and drainage systems.

Youth and women empowerment – Pushing for programs that create employment opportunities.

Education and healthcare – Enhancing access to quality services for all residents.

Security and welfare – Ensuring a peaceful and stable constituency.

“Rubaga North deserves an MP who understands their challenges and is committed to working with President Museveni to bring solutions. I am well-prepared and only waiting for the right time to begin full-scale preparations,” Singh stated.

With just days to the Kawempe North by-election, the NRM is intensifying efforts to mobilize support for Faridah Nambi, banking on Hon. Katongole Singh’s influence in Kampala politics. As the party eyes victory in the March 13 polls, Singh himself is gearing up for a strong comeback in Rubaga North come 2026, positioning himself as a key player in NRM’s dominance in Kampala.

His message to the electorate remains clear: Vote NRM for better service delivery, economic transformation, and direct access to President Museveni’s leadership.
