By John Kusolo

In a moving tribute during the last mass at St. James Bbina Catholic Church, Hon. Linos Ngompek, Member of Parliament for Kibanda North County in Kiryandongo District, eulogized the late Richard Mulindwa, the LC 1 Chairperson of Mutungo Zone 5. The service was filled with heartfelt remembrances of a man who dedicated his life to leadership and community service.

Hon. Linos Ngompek who contributed 1 Million Shs to the family, recounted their shared history, reminiscing about their days at Lakeside College, Luzira. Both men were leaders even in their youth, with Ngompek serving as Head Prefect and Mulindwa as a Prefect. Their bond was strengthened on the football field where Ngompek, the goalkeeper, and Mulindwa, the steadfast defender playing number 5, forged a camaraderie that would extend beyond their school years.

"Richard was not just a colleague; he was a friend and a brother," Ngompek said. "Our journey together in leadership started in our school days, and it has been a privilege to witness his dedication to service throughout his life."

Richard Mulindwa's leadership extended far beyond the school grounds. As the LC 1 Chairperson of Mutungo Zone 5, he was known for his kindness and unwavering commitment to his community. One of his most notable contributions was his voluntary service at St. Luke Hospital, Mutungo. Mulindwa often intervened on behalf of patients who could not afford medical treatment, pleading with the hospital management to provide free services to the needy. His compassionate actions earned him a revered spot on the St. Luke Hospital Management Committee, where he consistently defended those in need.

"Chairperson Richard was a kind leader whose generosity knew no bounds," Ngompek reflected. "He offered his services for free, especially at St. Luke Hospital, where his interventions made a significant impact on the lives of many patients. His dedication to helping those in need will always be remembered."

Richard Mulindwa’s contributions to his community extended beyond healthcare. As a leader, he was approachable and dedicated, often putting the needs of his constituents before his own. His legacy is one of selflessness and devotion, qualities that resonated deeply with those he served.

The service at St. James Bbina Catholic Church was attended by many who had been touched by Mulindwa’s life and work. Friends, family, and community members gathered to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a man who left an indelible mark on Mutungo Zone 5. The outpouring of love and respect was a testament to the significant impact he had on his community.

In his eulogy, Hon. Linos Ngompek emphasized the importance of continuing Mulindwa’s legacy of service and compassion. "Richard taught us the true meaning of leadership," he said. "He showed us that to lead is to serve, and to serve is to care for others selflessly. Let us honor his memory by striving to embody these values in our own lives."

As the final prayers were offered and the congregation bid farewell to Richard Mulindwa, the echoes of his compassionate deeds and dedicated service remained. His life was a beacon of hope and kindness, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of leaders in Mutungo Zone 5 and beyond.

Richard Mulindwa will be laid to rest at his ancestral home at Kyaggwe on 3rd June 2024.
