The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), in collaboration with eBee Uganda and the European Union (EU), has spearheaded a transformative initiative, Kampala Cycling Day. This monthly event, held on the last Friday of each month since January 2024, aims to promote e-mobility as a safer, healthier, and more sustainable transportation option. The event has quickly become a cornerstone for fostering a vibrant cycling culture in Kampala, inspiring residents to reimagine urban transportation.

A Vision for Sustainable Urban Mobility
Frank Rusa Nyakaana, Executive Director of KCCA, highlighted the initiative’s broader vision of advancing smart urban mobility. “Kampala Cycling Day is more than just a ride. It’s a call to action to integrate cycling into urban planning as we strive towards a cleaner, healthier, and safer city,” he remarked.
Kampala Cycling Day unites cycling enthusiasts, policymakers, and environmental advocates to push for cyclist safety and the inclusion of bicycles in transportation policies. With the European Union’s strategic involvement, the initiative gains an international perspective, aligning local efforts with global standards for sustainability and climate action.

The Benefits of Cycling
Cycling is not merely a recreational activity; it is a solution to some of Kampala’s most pressing urban challenges:

These advantages align seamlessly with eBee Uganda’s mission of advocating for sustainable, community-driven mobility solutions.

*Partnerships Driving Change*
The success of Kampala Cycling Day hinges on the partnerships that eBee has cultivated with key stakeholders such as KCCA, the European Union, and the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA). These collaborations have enabled:
