The Prisons Ground in Luzira will come alive this Thursday, 12th December 2024, as Maroons FC lock horns with Kitara FC in a highly anticipated Startimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) Match Day 12 clash. The encounter promises to be a captivating affair, with both teams determined to build on their recent impressive performances.

Maroons FC head into the fixture in fine form, having gone unbeaten in their last four matches. The Prison Warders, currently 7th on the table with 16 points, have recorded crucial wins, including a 2-0 triumph over Mbarara City FC in their last outing. A victory in this game would propel them to 19 points, level with third-placed Express FC and fourth-placed KCCA FC, further solidifying their position in the top half of the table.

On the other hand, Kitara FC, sitting 13th with 11 points, are desperate to climb out of the relegation zone. The Royals come into this game on the back of an exceptional run, scoring over ten goals in their last three matches without conceding. Their 6-0 demolition of Mbale Heroes last Friday was the biggest win of the league season so far, highlighting their newfound attacking prowess under head coach Wasswa Bbosa.

For Maroons FC, their recent form has been bolstered by solid performances both defensively and offensively. The team has found a rhythm at home and on the road, with standout victories against URA FC and Soltilo Bright Stars showcasing their resilience.

Kitara FC, however, will be missing key players for this encounter. Jasper Aheebwa and Titus Ssematimba are sidelined due to a knock and a muscle issue, respectively, while Ivan Sserubiri remains unavailable as he regains match fitness. Despite these absences, the Royals are buoyed by the form of Fred Amaku, who has scored three goals in his last three games. Amaku, alongside Patrick Kaddu and former Maroons skipper David Ndihabwe, will relish the chance to face their former club and make an impact in Luzira.

Kitara FC assistant coach George Lutalo emphasized the team's focus ahead of the game, stating:

“We have a target, and we can only be able to reach it if we continue the good run. The team is in good shape, and we believe they will do well in this game.”

*Head-to-Head Record*

This fixture has historically been closely contested. Last season, Maroons edged the first-round clash 1-0 in Masindi, thanks to a Fred Amaku strike, while the corresponding fixture at Luzira ended in a goalless draw. The stage is now set for another gripping battle as both sides look to assert their dominance.

Kitara FC’s recent attacking form will test Maroons’ defense, which has been resolute in recent weeks. The Royals will aim to capitalize on their momentum, while Maroons will seek to maintain their unbeaten streak and leverage their home advantage.

The return of familiar faces like Amaku, Kaddu, and Ndihabwe adds an intriguing subplot to this clash. Maroons’ coach will be wary of their ability to unlock defenses, but he will trust his side’s discipline and tactical acumen to contain the visitors.
