The award was presented to Ambassador Marcel Tibaleka, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva. This accolade is part of WSIS's global initiative to foster a more inclusive and equitable information society. Now in its second edition, the WSIS Digital Service Design Prize celebrates significant advancements in e-government services designed to enhance user experiences by focusing on user journeys, needs, and life events. These services leverage Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), building blocks, and open-source software components to deliver efficient and user-friendly solutions. The prize underscores the importance of innovative digital services in driving social and economic development.
UGPass: Transforming Digital Authentication
UGPass, the award-winning project by NITA-U, is a digital authentication and electronic signatures solution that allows users to sign or seal documents online in a fast, convenient, and secure manner. This innovative solution aims to improve trust, security, and efficiency within Uganda, demonstrating remarkable integration and impact across various sectors.
UGPass facilitates digital trust, enabling both individuals and businesses to conduct transactions confidently and securely. By providing a reliable platform for digital certification and electronic signatures, UGPass plays a pivotal role in enhancing digital governance and empowering users.
