Vipers SC Sign Promising 15-Year-Old Striker Kenneth Kimera
By John Kusolo
In a move that underscores their ambition and commitment to nurturing young talent, Vipers Sports Club has officially signed Kenneth Kimera, a highly promising 15-year-old striker, on a three-year contract. This signing, which includes an option to extend, will see Kimera don the Vipers jersey until at least the end of the 2026/27 season.
A Rising Star Joins the Venoms
Kenneth Kimera's rise in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) has been nothing short of meteoric. Last season, the youngster showcased his prodigious talent at Wakiso Giants FC, where he netted 10 goals in 27 matches during his debut top-flight campaign. His performance caught the eye of scouts and fans alike, marking him as one of the finest young players in the league.
Kimera's signing marks the third new addition to Vipers SC this season, following the acquisitions of left-back Derrick Ndahiro and Angolan attacker Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo, also known as Sukuya. With these strategic signings, Vipers SC aims to solidify their squad depth and continue their dominance in Ugandan football.
Enhancing the Forward Line
Kimera joins a formidable forward line at Vipers SC, which already boasts established names like Yunus Sentamu, Fumador Asiwome, Fazil Tumwine, Abdul Nsereko, and Eric Kenzo Kambale. His arrival is expected to inject youthful energy and fresh attacking options into the team, providing Head Coach Nikola Kavazović
with more flexibility and tactical variety.
A Journey from Grassroots to Topflight
Kenneth Kimera's journey to the top tier of Ugandan football began at Kibuli Secondary School, where he excelled both academically and on the football pitch. During the 2023 UMEA Solidarity Games held at Kawanda, he emerged as the top scorer with nine goals, highlighting his goal-scoring prowess. His performances in school competitions laid the foundation for his football career.
Kimera's talent was further honed in the Buganda Masaza Cup, where he played for Gomba in 2023 after a stint with Kyadondo. His participation in this prestigious regional tournament provided him with invaluable experience and exposure. Additionally, Kimera had a spell with the FUFA Regional League side Manyangwa FC, where he continued to develop his skills and gain competitive experience.
A Bright Future Ahead
Vipers SC's decision to sign Kenneth Kimera aligns with their long-term strategy of investing in young talent and building a team capable of competing at the highest levels. The club's management and coaching staff have expressed their confidence in Kimera's abilities and potential to become a key player for the Venoms.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Vipers SC's Chairman, Dr Lawrence Mulindwa, said, "We are delighted to welcome Kenneth Kimera to Vipers SC. He is a young player with immense potential, and we believe he will be an integral part of our team's future success. Our commitment to nurturing young talent remains unwavering, and we look forward to seeing Kenneth develop and flourish with us."
Kenneth Kimera's signing is a testament to Vipers SC's vision and ambition. As the young striker embarks on this new chapter in his career, the Vipers faithful will be eagerly anticipating his contributions on the pitch.
